Amanda received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth Universy, after a decade of working as a writer and educator. She previously earned a Master of Art in Literature (MA) and a Bachelor of Art in English/ Professional Writing (BA) from Old Dominion University. While at VCU, Amanda was one of the developers and facilitators of the Recovery Ally Program, an empathy and awareness training program that has been implemented throughout the country. Amanda has also facilitated recovery groups throughout the community, with an emphasis on using therapeutic arts in the recovery process. In addition to her clinical work, Amanda serves as a program manager in homeless services. There she works with some of the community's most vulnerable, providing mental health supports and connection to vital resources. Amanda has embraced the importance of trauma-informed care, mindfulness/ meditation, and creative expression in her work with clients. She recognizes the importance of a holistic approach, encouraging clients towards better understanding and acceptance of all aspects of self. She hopes to assist clients in identifying areas of growth and to equip clients with the tools to meet their personal goals.

Amanda relocated to Richmond in 2008, after residing in Virginia Beach, VA and Cocoa Beach, FL. She spends her free time trying to entertain her 21 year old son and 15 year old daughter and making art whenever she can.
