Miriam Bott, M.A., LPC

david

Miriam Bott earned her Bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Michigan and then completed a Master’s degree in Counseling at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

During her time as a therapist, Miriam has worked with individuals and families in several capacities including depression and anxiety, eating disorders, marriage issues, infidelity, forgiveness, divorce, blended families, domestic violence issues and crisis pregnancy. She is also certified as a Prepare-Enrich administrator and enjoys doing pre-marital counseling with this assessment tool.

Working with people within the context of their family system and relationships is an important perspective Miriam utilizes in her counseling. She believes that because God is a relational God, He uses the crucible of relationships in order to bring out sin and dysfunction in people as well as beauty and wholeness. She has seen the power of God’s redemptive work in her life and is honored to walk alongside others as they experience God’s redemption and healing in their own lives. She is confident that God has called her to comfort others with the comfort that she has received from Him (2 Corinthians 1:4). In addition to Biblical wisdom, Miriam draws from several theoretical orientations including Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused counseling theories.

Aside from counseling, Miriam is passionate about social justice and racial reconciliation and is involved in various ways through her church, Northside Church of Richmond. She is in the trenches raising her three children and growing as a godly wife and mother. In her down time, she loves traveling with her husband, hanging with her community, going for runs and playing in her worship band at church.
